Red Carpet Styled Eyes

9 Mar

Sadly, award season has come to a close, but that doesn’t mean we can’t relish in the fabulous fashions we’ve seen over the past few months.

Beginning with the Golden Globes all the way down to the Oscars, stars heated up the red carpet in delicious eyewear. Many styles showed face, but there were a few trends in particular that A-listers just couldn’t get enough of.

In case you missed our posts throughout award show season, here’s a refresher on the top celeb picks for eyewear:

Geek chic ruled the streets at every award show. Styles included round, rectangular and square shapes, bold browlines and keyhole bridges in black and tortoise. Famous faces like Johnny Depp, Seth Rogen, Chamillionaire and Geoffrey Rush were spotted rocking this look.

It’s not a night out without a pair of aviators, as we’ve learned from the likes of John Mayer, Marc Anthony, Blair Underwood and Kevin Spacey. Seen in metal and plastic materials, this classic shape debuted in teardrop, rectangular and butterfly shapes.

Blacked out lenses were a smash hit, especially among young Hollywood, and graced the faces of Lady Gaga, Lil’ Wayne, Bruno Mars and Elly Jackson. These super dark and mysterious lenses were caught in a number of different styles such as cat-eyes, wayfarers and retro-round shapes.

Gradient lenses also made their way onto the scene in rose, amber and copper hues. It was a fan favorite among P Diddy, LL Cool J, John Legend, Usher and Nikki Sixx. These sultry lenses came in a variety of styles including aviators, squares and geek chic.

Shields always add a dramatic effect to any outfit,  so it doesn’t come as a shock that they made the rounds on favorite celebs like Justin Bieber, will.i.am, Lenny Kravitz and B.oB. Some stars kept their shields simple in all black, while others sported pops of color.

Popstars Light Up the Grammys in Eyewear

15 Feb

Go big or go home seemed to be the theme at last night’s 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. Whether it was Lady Gaga’s bizarre arrival in a plastic egg, Cee Lo’s outrageous bird costume or Katy Perry’s sky-high swing performance, the stars went full throttle on music industry’s biggest night.

Besides killer performances, heartfelt acceptance speeches and emotional tributes, the evening was bursting with fashion. Though there certainly was a wide variety of attire, one thing was for sure—eyewear was the night’s must-wear accessory.

In case you missed it, here’s a rundown of the hottest trends:

Some of our favorite faces sported the quintessential aviator in a slew of fabulous shapes. John Mayer went for a clean, yet, sultry look with his shades while Marc Anthony, who presented the Record of the Year award with his bombshell wife, went for dark and mysterious.

Blacked out lenses were also a smash hit on plenty of popstars. La Roux’s vocalist Elly Jackson, who took home the Grammy for Best Electronic/Dance Album, channeled John Lennon round frames and Lady Gaga repped this trend in oversized cat-eyes while accepting her Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Sexy gradient lenses in smoky amber, rose and copper tints were a huge hit among rockers, rappers and R&B stars alike. The irresistible trend found itself on Usher, who took home two Grammy awards, Motley Crue’s bad boy Nikki Sixx, P Diddy, John Legend and LL Cool J, just to name a few.

Geek chic also had its time in the spotlight. B.o.B tore up the stage in a snazzy pair of specs with a bold browline. Kings of Leon member Nathan Followill donned retro round, black glasses with a keyhole bridge as he joined his fellow band mates to present Best Country Album.

Shields stole the show both onstage and in the audience. Usher and his teen protégé Justin Bieber danced the crowd into a frenzy during their highly anticipated performance, both wearing futuristic styles. Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am. chilled out in a gold-rimmed pair with colored lenses.

Beverly Hills Beauty Taylor Armstrong in bebe Shades

26 Jan

A guilty pleasure for many, Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills always lives up to the expectation—drama, drama, drama! Filled to the brim with over-the-top glamour, excessive spending, cat fights galore and plastic surgery, this show is irresistible and endlessly entertaining. Unfortunately, the first season has come to an end, but alas, the reunion (part one) airs tomorrow night at 9 pm EST, and let’s admit it, the reunions are always way more juicy than the regular episodes.

Born and raised in Oklahoma, one of our favorite cast members, Taylor Armstrong, is no longer a small town gal. Since becoming a Beverly Hills resident, Taylor is now the business-savvy Founder and President of eImplement, Inc., a management consulting firm. She also has a mind for fashion, as seen here in these statement-making oversized white bebe (BB7005) sunnies with metal studded temples and gradient lenses by Altair Eyewear.

Can’t wait to see how the infamous feud between Taylor and Kim Richards unravels tomorrow!

Vivacious Valentino Eyewear

21 Jan

Valentino has unleashed their divine spring/summer 2011 eyewear collection by Safilo Group and after a quick glimpse, you’ll see that these frames are nothing short of amazing. If you’re looking for dramatic effects, luxurious materials and meticulous detailing, you’re in dire need of one (or more, of course!) of these frames.

The collection is broken down into two categories: Rock Attitude and Dark Romanticism.

Rock Attitude is all about being fun and flirty with an edgy twist. Valentino raised the bar when it comes to style with leather textures, metal studs, diamond-like finishes, exquisite temple embellishments and gradient lenses. Butterfly, wayfarer and square shapes steal the show and offer a great way for you to show off your rocker-chick personality.

On the other hand, Dark Romanticism is more mysterious and regal. The iconic rose motif carved into the temples delivers crisp, geometric lines that demand attention. The glossy finish is scintillating to the senses and will appease any fashionista’s need for glitz and glamour.
